This looks like being a very interesting event, and should give a strong idea of how very mistaken it would be if posts were to be cut….

A Circling Story

by Holly Haworth

“Hunger to abundance, brown to green, death to life, dry to wet, darkness to light.”

Observing the annual changes of the Georgia Piedmont region of the Southeast US, essayist and reporter Holly Haworth chronicles the rise and fall of microseasons around her home. Falling within the liminal spaces of the traditional four season framework, each offers a unique expression of place and unfolds in ways never exactly repeated.

What she documents reveals a multitude of beginnings and endings that can easily go unnoticed: the moment the faces of trout lilies turn downwards; the profusion of goldenrod fragrance in the air; and crows gathering and dispersing on bare branches. Immersed in the return of familiar moments, the evolution and disappearance of others, she comes to experience the archetypal story told by the seasons, one of death and rebirth by which the world continually remakes itself.
