In The Garden…..Neolithic Sanday…...Rousay Fieldtrip….

by Bernie Bell - 09:22 on 15 March 2024

In The Garden…..

Invasion of the Neighbour’s Turkeys…

We heard a noise – gobble gobble gobble - opened the door – there they were….

Mike & other neighbour Steve herded them home before they got a chance to nibble the flowers!

Speaking of which – first Daffs. from the garden!  A cheery, cheering sight…

And…in m’blog 21.9 ’22….

“Rousay has long been known as ‘The Egypt of the North’ because so much significant archaeology has been found there….

Then, a whole other load of archaeology was discovered and is the process of being excavated at Skaill Farm….

And now, the archaeologists are looking for more…..

Part of this project aims to look at sea level rise and coastal erosion – which I’ve just written of in m’blog…..

On Rousay, this is particularly relevant in relation to the site at Swandro…. https://www.swandro.co.uk/

There’s so much theeeeere – and what more is to be discovered?”
