In The Garden……

……on-going.....

The first crocus.....

The resident Gnome!

And….this morning….a female pheasant…..possibly pairing with Aubers to produce…more pheasants!...

We couldn't take a picture as we have 'Sylvia Wishart' windows - hoping for a non-salty shower....

Casino Earth

Viruses do not mutate out of malice.
The earth does not quake to punish.
Hurricanes do not plan or regret.

We live on a scary planet—
despite a clockwork cosmos above,
random disasters arise below.

It's comforting to imagine
that there's some higher purpose
but it's just a roll of the dice.

We live in a casino called Earth—
exciting and frightening,
tragic and triumphant.

At least there's no house edge
and no one has loaded the dice.
In the end, we all lose

and we lose it all— no luxury penthouse suites
in which to retire but no sweaty basements
eternally washing dishes.

Life's not fair but neither is it fixed.

I’m reminded of Ben Elton’s novels…’Stark’ and 'This Other Eden'...
