Tracks….
On Mike’s daily constitutional he noticed how many tracks there were in the snow or, as he put it ‘stories in the snow’. A lot of them were muddled – various people, dogs, birds, other critters - hard to tell what‘s what – but, going up the track from Rendall Old Kirkyard….

…..the snow was pristine and he saw that he was following a hare – two ‘slots’ – a wide gap – then two smaller prints….
Further on - triangular tracks with a line through them - left by a pheasant and it’s trailing tail…..
A pheasant visits our garden - we call him Aubrey the Aristocratic Pheasant - Aubers for short. Recently he’s been sheltering by Pond Howe, as evidenced by a lot of poo in the space between the mound and the edge of the pond – nice and sheltered for him.
Sometimes in the summer he has females with him. We’ve never seen young pheasants, but a neighbour came across a nest in some bushes a couple of fields away which - being a good bloke - he avoided until the young were hatched and the nest was abandoned.
