Winter.…. Justice…...’And I Think To Myself……

Winter….
From ‘Love’s Labour’s Lost’ – Act V, scene 2.
When icicles hang by the wall,
And Dick the shepherd blows his nail,
And Tom bears logs into the hall,
And milk comes frozen home in pail,
When blood is nipp’d and ways be foul,
Then nightly sings the staring owl,
Tu-who;
Tu-whit, a merry note,
While greasy Joan doth keel the pot.
WHEN all aloud the wind doth blow,
And coughing drowns the parson’s saw,
And birds sit brooding in the snow,
And Marian’s nose looks red and raw,
When roasted crabs hiss in the bowl,
Then nightly sings the staring owl,
Tu-who;
Tu-whit, a merry note,
While greasy Joan doth keel the pot.
William Shakespeare
When icicles hang from the water-butt…
And snow makes shapes on the wall…
Snowy wintry window light…

Justice….
Perry Mason to Jack McCoy
arguments rise to crescendo
dramatic twist as witness breaks
down and we see the villain
actually innocent
I've been one of the twelve
angry men in a jury room
after sitting through a two week
trial and it was boring
no gasps from the gallery
The defendant did not threaten
the judge nor did he delay
his appointment with the law
by perpetual motions
In my ideal America politics is dull
courts are not reality television
and justice comes swift and fair

Not just in America…..
