Dreaming Again….

I’ve been dreaming again - along similar lines - people, in the land – time passing. As happens with dreams, the beginning is now vague, but…I was at an archaeology dig – maybe the Ness, not sure as it looked like the soil was more sandy – compacted sand - but more sandy than the Ness soil. I was actually taking part in the dig. I was kneeling down, diligently brushing soil from a stone which was embedded. I began to see something on the stone - looked like a hand, not carved into, but carved onto it. As I brushed, it emerged. This will very hard to describe.
The stone was about 8 inches long. It was kind-of curved along its length. Along the top, a hand was carved, as though holding the stone. It wasn’t a skeleton, but it wasn’t a fully fleshed-out hand either. It was something like my hands – only more so - my hands show the bones and the veins – I like to wiggle my thumb to see how my skeleton articulates. It was curved over the curve of the stone – as though holding it.
As I cleared the soil, I could see a cleft in the stone which I carefully cleared out. Eventually, I could lift the stone from the earth, and in the cleft (not a sharp cleft, a smooth cleft) there was a figure - a very simple figure, rounded outline of the head then rounded outline of a body all made out of maybe 6 concentric lines. The other side of the stone was smooth – a rounded, smooth version of the side the hand was ‘holding’.
I can picture that stone, so clearly. I wish I could draw –and I’d draw it. Better still, if I could carve stone, I’d carve it.
Does anyone feel inspired to carve/draw/sculpt – make real this dream image?
