JEANNE’S NEW EXHIBITION!!!.......
I received an email from the Orkney Archaeology Society about Jeanne Bouza-Rose’ forthcoming exhibition in Northlight Gallery…

Re. her exhibition, Jeanne wrote to me….
“With the Ness closing, this all becomes an important provenance for any who have been inspired by the site. So doing this will help everyone. Proceeds will be donated to Ness and to the Peedie Retreat.”
Which kind-of takes the words out of my mouth re. the relevance of her exhibition to the Ness closing after next year’s dig!

Sighthill Stone Circle Update…
I also received an email from Duncan Lunan, who kindly agreed to my ‘lifting’ some of the info. to share in m’blog….

I'm attaching Grahame Gardner's film of the midsummer sunrise, taken from the top of the central stone. Six years after I designed the new alignments and more than three years after the circle was re-erected, it's really good to have confirmation that this time the alignment is spot on.

There's more: on Sunday last, The National had a two-page write-up by Steph Brawn about the Stone Me podcasts, for which Kenny Brophy and I visited the stone circle with Matthew Magee in February. (Artistically crumpled image attached - Gerry Cassidy has a copy of the paper for me.) I contacted Steph, and on Wednesday she interviewed me in depth via Teams, for a follow-up article.
Linda and I are now volunteer contributors to ArranSound Radio and I have a regular astronomy spot there, starting now and continuing on the 29th of each month. I'm also going to do four online interviews with them, two about the stone circle and two on related topics. I'm going to make four articles out of them, in different forms, for iScot magazine, Ancient Origins, and the Griffith Observer.
The word is getting out there.”

’Ice Age Footprints’…..
We watched a recorded television programme – ‘Ice Age Footprints’ – on PBS America…
It’s about a place in America where footprints of adults and children have been found dating from over 20 thousand years ago.
In places, these are intermingled with the prints of a Giant Sloth and there are trails which look like the people were dragging some kind of hurdle, possibly used to transport meat from the site of a hunt, to their campsite.
The picture created in this program is so vivid – the lives of those people – and I’m thinking of the human footprints found in other places around the world…..

Human footprints – we make and leave our mark.
All those people, walking the earth, as we do. They are us and we are they.
Those ancestors from over 20 thousand years ago are now ’haunting’ me. And that’s fine by me – I say to them – Namaste.
