Coastal Erosion In Orkney….

Along the Bay of Hinderayre after the Winter storms…but before the Spring snow arrived!

Below the Kirkyard wall and gate….

It’s plain to see how the sea is eating into the whole bank…..

A big ‘bite’ taken from the side of the footpath…..

And the same from above…

Around Eynhallow Sound….

This is most excellent….

I covet that string of beads.

And here are some of the bits & pieces I’ve written about these places…

A lot of archaeology?  There’s a lot of archaeology in Orkney!

The Blide Trust, Orkney… https://www.blidetrust.org.uk/  produced a little book to raise funds. It has contributions from local people - illustrations, stories, poems, and..........a knitting pattern for an Orkney Hood with an explanation of what the Orkney Hood is.

I’m not sure if I’m allowed to reproduce this  - copyright and all that - I reckon, as I’ve thoroughly credited it - it should be OK?  If anyone objects – I’ll remove it!

Snow!....

Days like this are when we’re particularly glad that Mike is still working at home – doesn’t have to set off out in the car.

I got well wrapped up and scooted round the garden, taking pics....

The Broch of Gorseness by the pond – in the snow.

Tracks going to the pond…

Wideford Hill across the Bay…

Scrap metal becomes snowscape art ….

I love this light and how it fills the house – reflecting  back from Anna Charlotta Gardiner’s snow picture…
