Christmas Cards In The Ditches……. Polar Wander..….‘Where the Horses Sing’…..More Covid Musings…..
by Bernie Bell - 10:10 on 06 January 2023
Twelfth Night - deccies come down – including the cards…..
Christmas Cards In The Ditches
We put the ‘paper’ bin out
With Christmas cards for re-cycling
The wind came up
The bin blew over
Cards & paper scattered across the fields
And in the ditches
We picked them up
As best we could
But folk might still find some
And read ‘To Bernie & Mike – From…’
But they won’t be reading Julie’s….
“Life is grim and very hard
But - hope you like
This little card
And when I’ve something
Good to say
I’ll send a letter
Right away”

by Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee
“Witnessing how humanity is tearing apart the web of life, Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee reminds us of the deep ecology of consciousness we once held—a threshold open to the place where the land sings—and calls us to return our awareness to a fully animate world. “

More Covid Musings…..
I’ve noticed something…..by now, quite a lot of people we know have had Covid – some worse than others – some are still struggling with Long Covid, the main problem being lack of energy which limits what they can do.
There seems to be an idea that it doesn’t matter so much if you catch it now - that it’s just like the ‘flu and you’ll get over it – and for many people that is the case.
Many have had Covid badly enough for it to have had an effect on their lives, but they get better, then they carry on as normal as though Covid isn’t there – choose to go into crowded indoor situations – not wearing a mask - go on holiday – travelling in a tube of re-cycled air. Then they get Covid again, sometimes multiple times – each infection taking its toll on their time and their lives. And yet they keep on acting like it isn’t there. Maybe they’ll do so until they get Long Covid and are stuck with it.
Many of these are thinking people, but it looks like they’re not – thinking, that is.
Extend that out to the whole population of Britain - and of the world - and Covid is definitely still a major problem affecting the lives of populations and the strength of nations.
The Government of China doesn’t appear to understand that we are all part of one world and that what one nation does can affect other nations.
Covid is now rife again in China, yet from the 8th of January 2023, the Government will lift the quarantine regulations for people arriving there.
So, people can travel to China, presumably travel about there if they wish to, then go home again - potentially taking Covid with them.
And, of course, relaxed restrictions means that folk can travel from China to anywhere that will accept them.
My first response was to think that no-one would be foolish enough to travel to or from China in the present circumstances - but they will - because people are defiantly behaving as though the Covid Pandemic is over and they can go back to living as ‘normal’. But it isn’t, and they can’t.

And now there is a new variant…. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-64164306
I’m not saying I entirely trust BBC reportage – but – even if only part of this is correct – where are we going as a species?
I wondered if there was any point in my writing this as the global tendency to denial is so strong – but to quote Maxi Jazz…. “In-action is a weapon of mass destruction.”
