Eday Remembrance….Ness of Brodgar Dates…. Bird Crime…. Wild Justice….

Eday Remembrance 2022
The pipes rent
the island air
the bag wheezes
its beautiful
terrifying
resonance
dissonant melody
slung
into the wind
sharp in the
glinting
November sun
Souls striding out
dead island boys
ringing life
touching breath
heaving into
gigantic
sonorous
memory
tears snatched
heartbreak
tender fading
into old years
Between sky
and stone
breathing
with the breath-less
caught
in the sound
the silence
in the wording
of names
they are here
they are not
forgot

In the UHI Archaeology Institute blog notification of the Ness dates…. https://archaeologyorkney.com/2022/11/15/ness-of-brodgar-2023/ Sigurd Towrie points out that….
“2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the discovery of the first building on site, Structure One.
The project, run by the Ness of Brodgar Trust in association with the UHI Archaeology Institute, has since revealed a cluster of monumental structures, dating from around 3300BC-2400BC, in the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site.”

Bird Crime….
The RSPB Bird Crime Report for 2021 has just been published…..
And this happens so that a few toffs can shoot things that they don’t need to eat.

Wild Justice….
As chance would have it, I received this from ‘Wild Justice’….
“People’s Walk for Wildlife 2: the walk will now take place on Sunday 27 November, after rail strikes were announced on the original date of the 26th. This will be a joyful, family-friendly and celebratory walk in support of our wildlife, and to resist the ongoing Attack on Nature. Find out more information at peopleswalkforwildlife.org. We look forward to seeing lots of you there.”
