Somewhat unavoidably – a lot of Politics……

General Election…. CAAT…… Freedom - Matters…..Larry For PM…..

I received this from Change.org…..

We Need a General Election Now

47,320 have signed David Marley’s petition. Let’s get to 50,000!

Liz Truss has quit as prime minister after just 45 days in office.

She had no mandate for her abrupt changes of policy when she took charge – except from 81,000 Conservative Party members, a tiny and unrepresentative section of the population. Nor did she have any authority for her U-turns, repeatedly changing the government’s fundamental stance on taxes and public spending.

Announcing her resignation, Ms Truss said a new prime minister would be chosen within a week. We at The Independent believe this is unacceptable.

This will be the third Conservative prime minister since the last general election in 2019.

Who is leading our country should be decided in a general election, not in the strange bubble of yet another Conservative leadership election.

It is time for voters to decide who should govern the country and uphold the democratic principles our governing bodies are built on. For this reason we are calling for a general election now.

It is a simple and fundamental principle that the government derives its democratic legitimacy from the people. Let them have their say.

Thank you for your support.

And I received this from the Campaign Against Arms Trade….

“CAAT says no to injunction at Malvern arms fair, yes to the right to protest!

Three Counties Showground are seeking an injunction against "persons unknown" to limit protests against the Malvern arms fair, 3CDSE (31 Oct - 2 Nov)

The focus of the fair is “hybrid warfare”. Electronic and cyber warfare, drone warfare, and unmanned vehicles are an important part of modern warfare, are lethal in their own right, and are of deep concern to all those interested in peace and justice. It is therefore entirely legitimate to want to protest such an event, and any injunction that limits the right to protest should be taken in that light.

We are challenging this injunction in court today, Thursday 20th October.  We need your support to say no to this injunction and to defend the right to protest!

How you can help!

Protest remains an important democratic right. Protesters are ordinary members of the public, saying no to violence and repression, and seeking to make their voice heard.

Thank you for your support, and for standing with all those who resist the arms trade.

Freedom - Matters….

From ‘Free Tibet’ https://freetibet.org/  ….

“Yesterday, Free Tibet, alongside their Hong Kong and Uyghur allies, hung a 22-metre banner off Westminster Bridge in solidarity with the Chinese activist 'Bridge Man'.

The banner, identical to the one hung from Sitong bridge in Beijing last week, can be translated as 'We want food, not PCR tests. We want reform, not a Cultural Revolution. We want a vote, not a leader. We want freedom, not lockdowns. We want respect, not lies. We want to be citizens, not slaves.'

Within hours of the protest in Beijing on 13 October, photos were being removed from social media platforms behind China's internet "Great Firewall". Posts containing words such as "Beijing" or "bridge" were strictly controlled, and users had their accounts suspended for sharing images of the protest.

Whilst the Chinese Communist Party continues with their oppressive policies that restrict free speech and protest inside China; we must amplify those voices brave enough to speak out.

We are calling on our supporters to amplify those voices by sharing today's action. Be that on social media, email or by talking to your friends and family.”

PS...

I just receved this from 'Freedom From Torture'.....PEOPLE POWER WORKS!....

"We did it! The airline Privilege Style just told us they WON’T fly refugees to Rwanda.

Their plane was on the tarmac ready to fly refugees away in June. But now - thanks to the actions of thousands of you - they’ve said they will not be a part of this cash for humans scheme. It’s incredible.

As this lands in the newspapers, it will send a powerful message to the whole airline industry and to our new Prime Minister - whoever that may be.

I am blown away – and as a torture survivor, it means so much to me that thousands of us did this together. Bernie, people power works.

Here’s some of the things we did together:

16,000 of you emailed Privilege Style

Thousands tweeted and commented on their social media pages

Hundreds of you called them

We confronted the airline at their Spanish HQ as the first plane was due to take off

10,000 signed an open letter to sports teams telling them not to use the company

We interrupted the world's biggest airline conference to call out Privilege Style

I’m so proud of everyone. Because of you, the Rwanda plan is looking more unpopular than ever. On one side are the Conservatives. On the other side are opposition parties, religious leaders, celebrities, the public and even King Charles. Now the airlines won’t even take money to be involved.

We already forced Titan and Airtanker airlines to say they won’t fly the planes. And now we've made Privilege Style do the same. The government is running out of places to turn. We CAN make sure no plane ever takes off to Rwanda.

We won’t stop going after airlines who could be involved. We don’t have big corporate donors, but we have each other – and together, we’re winning. If you can, please chip in and help make sure we can defeat the cruel Rwanda plan for good.

Best wishes,

Kolbassia and the whole team at 'Freedom From Torture'.....  https://www.freedomfromtorture.org/
