The more people that see this video, the more Privilege Style will see flying refugees to Rwanda is a threat to their PR and profits. Then we can stop the flights for good, no matter what Suella Braverman’s “dream” is.

An event which I’m pleased to say that we attended. Imagine that music, in that setting…….

Orkney Blues Fest 2022…..
I had a look at the OBF website https://www.orkneyblues.co.uk/ and Facebook https://en-gb.facebook.com/orkneybluesfest/
We didn’t go to any of the gigs as, due to the continued presence of Covid, I’m still not going indoors where there will be unknown people ( deep joy).
I was thinking – the last Blues Fest event we went to was the tribute to Coop in 2019… https://theorkneynews.scot/2019/09/22/a-tribute-to-coop-orkney-blues-fest-2019/. I’m not sure when/if I’ll be able to go to any of them again – but – if that turns out to be the last Blues Fest event I ever go to – that’ll do for me.
Coop was, and is, something else. Andy Taylor has Coop’s guitars - and ability - a new generation – taking the baton.
So it goes.

The Peedie Chippie!!!!
Our neighbour, who knows how much we like The Peedie Chippie and who gets his Friday chippy tea there too, emailed us to let us know that due to the owners retiring, the Peedie Chippie chip van is being sold!!!!!! He’d seen it on Facebook... https://www.facebook.com/thepeediechippie/
This is bad news – he described it as ‘end of an era’ and ain’t it just. I replied….
“Oh bugger! I wonder if it’s open this evening? If so, Mike will ask how long they’ll be there for.
Well – we have the alternative at Baikie’s, but …..the Peedie Chippie is….the Peedie Chippie. Someone might buy the van as a business and keep it going – then it depends on if the food is good.
Bugger.
Not wanting to be gloomy but – there used to be a food van at the Broch of Birsay carpark called ‘Tea & Tabnabs’ . It was brilliant. The burgers & bangers - including veggie - were good quality, from Fletts in Stromness, and the home bakes were ….home-made. The folk who ran it retired and sold it – the food wasn’t anything like as good and it closed before long.
