The Importance of Water - and Words….

I previously posted a link to Steve Drury’s  ‘Earthlogs’  https://earthlogs.org/homepage/

And now here’s Steve’s latest ………

Steve’s discussion of what can be found in ‘old’ water, reminded me of a piece I wrote about what can be found in, and emerge from,  ‘old’ ice – some of which is now melting for the first time in millenia…  https://theorkneynews.scot/2020/05/30/a-strange-approach-to-a-true-tale/

There’s a poet who lives in North Carolina, America called Bartholomew Barker who regularly posts his poems on his blog….  https://bartbarkerpoet.com/ .

Bartholomew not only has a way with words, he has the ability to use very few words to say a lot.  I admire this ability as I - well I recognize that I do tend to be a bit verbose at times.

The poetic form known as a haiku  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku  perfectly presents this ability, and Bartholomew posts a haiku every Friday which he calls a Fraiku – I read them on Saturday, because of the time difference.  I like it that the words circle the world.

Bondage is the irritant
Freedom the Pearl worth the risk
of being sold south

There will be more poetry from Bartholomew posted on my  blog – no doubt about it.

Haiku originated as an opening part of a larger Japanese poem called renga…. https://theorkneynews.scot/2021/06/30/renga-on-the-round/

Things do connect up.

Talking About Tibet…..

The more people that help to raise awareness of the repression of Tibet by China, and that ask questions of their governments, the more impact ‘Free Tibet’ can have.  https://freetibet.org/

Through persistent lobbying, what may begin as a question in parliament from an MP friendly to Tibet or a meeting with the Foreign Office can gain momentum and lead to real and lasting change, just as it did when the Prime Minister announced to parliament that the UK government would boycott the 2022 Beijing Winter Games.

Why does this matter?  What is happening there?  In a nutshell….. ….. https://theorkneynews.scot/2018/03/17/a-bit-of-a-rant-about-respect/

I warned you there’d  be politics.

And….my usual end-note……here’s one I made earlier…… https://theorkneynews.scot/2022/03/22/recipe-pasta-with-tuna-apricots/
