The second pre-season game of the season saw Bedale travel across country to Blackpool, to take part in a tri tournament inlcuding Bedale, Burnley United (Burnley Youth Academy) and Norcross and Warbreck FC.

An early morning start in the rain saw Bedale leave at 09:30. We arrived at a sodden Norcross ground to find that we would be playing second.

A Victory for Norcross saw Bedale play an impressive Burnley Side. The rain came and the game got under way.

Burnley were a very organised outfit and pushed Bedale on every attack they had, but a strong defence including Dave Proud, Jonny C Duffy and Dane generally saw off any attack. If the defence were breached an in form Ben Heugh was on hand to mop up.

The game swung from end to end, with Shane, Garbo and Danny W proving to be a handful for the academy sides defence. But it was the good thinking of Sturdy and running by Steve Dawson that broke the deadlock. A flick on by Sturdy and a brilliant finish by Dawson saw Bedale take the lead.

Matty Al had another chance to finish the game but a fine save from the goal keeper kept it 1-0.  

Half time came and the disappointing news that the tournament will be abandoned arrived.

A two hour Journey for 30 mins football.............................................
