On Saturday 1st Hammond Plains Scouts had their annual car races - these are for the Beaver Buggies, the Cub Cars and the Scout Trucks. Some of the time spent on preparing the various cars is amazing. Especially at the Cubs and Scouts level - their entries are taken very seriously with every entry weighed before it is allowed to race, there is a 'pit stop' where running repairs and adjustments to meet the rules can take place after scrutineering. The Beavers are meant to be taking part just for fun and not for competition (really???).
There were obviously some parents who were taking this very, very seriously - not quite so much this family! Nathan only decided to take part on Saturday morning and we managed to streamline his block of wood into an aerodynamic car in 10 minutes with the handy use of a jigsaw! In fairness, it outperformed many of the other cars!
