Caraid and I have returned from Montreal. Her coach from Calgary has told her she did fantastic but we have not yet seen the scores.
It was a tiring weekend - for us both. Caraid arrived back at the hotel room at 10.30 on Saturday night and told me she was going out for dessert with some of her friends - I didn't see her again until 12.30am and then she had to begin debating at 8am next morning.
Yesterday I climbed up Mont Royal - I didn't discover until later that you can take a bus part way up, so I walked from our downtown hotel.

At first I just aimed for Chalet du Mont Royal:

But then decided to go on to La Croix du Montreal:

I then decided I might as well keep going right to the summit where there is a radio transmitter.
It was a very warm, dry day but a bit foggy so the view was not as spectacular as it might have been. There was still a lot of colour in the trees though:

It was a steep climb down:

When I got to the bottom I walked right through the city and on to Vieux-Montreal:

I had lunch at a great little Polish restaurant. It was exactly as I remembered the food in Poland and was very cheap. I also went to the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal. While I was there a wedding was taking place which was very special to see. It was a stunning place and I took a very informative guided tour. My photos don't really do it justice.
