It is now Sunday night, Nathan has flaked out at 5.30pm, Brendan managed to last until 7pm and at 8pm Caraid is off to bed!
If only it was like that normally!! So, what happened?
We've already had a whole series of parties and this weekend carried on. It was Nathan's birthday on Saturday morning, Tabby took charge of guarding his present:
He did eventually manage to get into it:
There wasn't much time to stop and play, though, with Brendan having a party to go to at 11.30 am. At about the same time, Nathan had his cornet lesson and then in the afternoon Nathan was taking part in a concert. His Brass Ensemble were playing as part of a concert for the residents of Northwoods - a senior's home.
Here's a snippet from the performance:
Then on Saturday night, the main event kicked off! Nathan was having some friends over for a sleep over. We ended up with five additional eleven year old boys in the house last night! Thankfully, they did manage to get outside to burn off some energy and had a mammoth water fight!:
Nathan get's chased for a soaking as it's his birthday:
Everyone had a great time and then we stayed up and watched some movies and some of a basketball game, as one of the boys, Matthew, is a great player and fan. It was enjoyable to have him with us to explain some of the finer points of the game, of course, all the other boys were experts as well!
Finally, they went to bed ... at 11pm. By midnight, both Aileen and Euan had turned in ... only to be woken by Nathan and a friend to be up between 2 and 2.30am! Then all the boys were awake at about 5 am - perhaps having them all in the rec room, with windows that catch the morning sun, wasn't a brilliant idea!
Needless to say, by 6.30 am they were having another water fight and by 7.30 am they were taking turns on the kayaks exploring the lake!
We were so, so, so thankful when the parents came at 10.30am to pick them all up!
But did it end there?
Not at all.
Brendan had a pool party this afternoon at lunchtime and Nathan had a paintballing party this afternoon as one of the boys from last night, Derek, has a birthday one day apart from Nathan. So ... a lot of tired boys were running around a forest this afternoon blasting lumps out of each other.
So, perhaps it is not surprising that by this evening the kids are all shattered and so are we!
