Been in Calgary a couple of days now and today I hired a car and drove into the Rockies. Here are some photos although they don't really do it justice.

First I visited Banff - a real sense of deja vu, it may just as well be called Aviemore:

The highlight of the day was taking the gondola up Sulphur Mountain:

The view from the top was amazing although the weather was starting to close in:

I then drove on to Lake Louise. Looks different in the snow from the usual pictures of it:

After that I took the Columbia Icefields road but had to turn back at the second set of gates because I had no snow chains - the weather was really bad by then and the road was treacherous.
A fun day - now back to work...
