I took the children to Shubenacadie Wildlife Park today and it was great - and only cost $8 for us all to get in! There were lots of animals; cougar, black bear, lynx, caribou, wolves and lots more. Nathan was keen to see the lynx as he'd done his French project on lynx this year (yes, a project in French about lynx) and Brendan got to see a snowshoe hare - we've seen their footprints in the garden and he has a book all about them.
With it being so hot today though (mid 30s) some of the animals were hiding in the shade but we were still able to see most of them.

There were lots of beautiful peacocks:

Brendan had a word with the racoons about eating holes in our bins:

There was a video microscope which was great fun:

The park also has one of the largest playparks in NS and lots of picnic space. It was empty today, probably because of the heat, but it is on top of a hill and so was actually nice and breezy.
The park is home to Shubenacadie Sam, the groundhog who predicts the weather in NS, but he wasn't coming out of the ground today, so Brendan is desperate to go back another time.
