Tonight our Ethiopian friends from St. Gabriels (the old St Nicholas building) cooked an amazing dinner.  It was a fantastic evening!

They must have wondered about our children though - Nathan and Brendan would only eat bread, while the Ethiopians had plates loaded with food.  The mother of the little boy using the knife and fork obviously told him, in their language, not to do that, to which he loudly replied 'but that's what the white people do'.  It was a lovely exchange of cultures - I just knew Nathan would be horrified by them eating their food with their hands!

There was a ritual to making the coffee, which began with roasting the beans:
