The end of a busy week - the children's first week at school. They have all settled in really well. Brendan is happy in his class and already seems so much more grown up. Nathan has made lots of friends and his teacher says he is especially popular with the girls - he seems to find the work easy too. Caraid has also made lots of friends. She has found the academic side of things more challenging but loves band and her flute playing ability seems to be very good in comparison with the others. She has also joined the choir and auditioned today for the school musical.
Socially we are as busy as ever - some things don't change, even if you move almost halfway around the world. Two nights this week have already seen rushed dinner times. On Tuesday, Caraid went for pizza and to do 'server training' at the Church and I dropped her off on the way to a debate in Halifax. Tonight we were at the school family bingo evening - it was good to meet other parents and see our children's friends. Nathan had a school trip on Thursday to a local park/forest, which he enjoyed. Tonight, the Headteacher stopped us to say that her husband who takes the High School debating had noticed the 'Scottish girl' when he was doing debating with the Grade 6s and is hoping she may want to join the debating team in High School - why is that not a surprise?! Apparently, Caraid told them that she had done debating before, not realising that their debating includes addressing the Chair, rebuttals, etc. .....very similiar to how Brendan said he had been teaching his class French....
Nathan is excited because he has been invited to go to watch a Mooseheads game next weekend (Halifax ice hockey team) which is supposed to be a really big thing.
Oh and our new sofas arrived today, so at last we have seats to sit on!
Still enjoying life here and it is becoming more like real life and less like being on holiday.
