So Typically Firstport!

So a leaseholder received a service charge demand from Firstport which he sent a cheque for the payment.

Then as can happen having issues with his bank the leaseholder decided to transfer his bank account. No problem as the bank transfer scheme allows for cheques to be honoured for a considerable period by the new bank.

But this is Firstport!

Such was their administrative shambles that they did not bank the cheque for too long a time so the cheque was returned.

No problem. All Firstport had to do was return the cheque back to the leaseholder with an apology for not presenting the cheque in a timely manner and the leaseholder would have issued a cheque drawn on the new account. Simple, problem solved.

But this is Firstport!

So instead, they add administraton charges (with threats of court action for non -payment)

After a two year struggle, the matter is referred to the FTT.

The Judge finds in favour of the leaseholder and dismisses all the administration charges levied on the leaseholder.

He then asks Firstport "Why did you not just return the cheque and let the leaseholder send another one?"

Good question Judge? Why didn't you do that Firstport?
