Berwick Upon Tweed. Should It Stay In England?

Berwick Upon Tweed has a fascinating history, in large part being brought about by having being switched so often between being part of England and Scotland.

Indeed folklore has it that technically Berwick Upon Tweed is still at war with Russia , having been left off the crimean peace treaty document!

Particularly since Scottish devolution many residents in Berwick Upon Tweed are coming around to the view that they would be better off if the town reverted back to Scotland.

They cite better health care, free prescriptions, free university education and no leasehold as distinct advantages to being part of Scotland.

About Peverel has uncovered something that may increase their desire to move the town to Scotland(And all thanks to our "friends" at Firstport).

If you live in England and you make a late payment of your service charge Firstport will make you pay a 60 pounds administration charge. Live in Scotland and Firstport only charge 36 pounds!

On that basis it might be a good idea for hard pressed victims of Firstport, if the Scottish border could begin in Bournemouth!
