Freeholders Moving The Furniture?

Well not quite moving the furniture, but the freeholding companies as a consequence of a complex re-financing are in the process of carrying out transfers of assets to connected companies.

Possibly this is to put debts onto some of the companies in ordrer to liquidate them leaving the rest of the group free of debt.

To do this they will in the coming months, without leaseholders prior knowledge begin the process of "transferring" freeholds to another company.

If this does happen, you may receive a letter informing you that the freehold has been transfereed to us and you now need to make ground rent payments to the new company or their agents.

To protect yourself against fraud, you should contact your freeholder direct and get them to write to you confirming they have transferred the freehold and to whom the freehold was transferred to? You must have the letter signed with the name of an identifiable employee of the freeholding company.

Until you obtain such proof you should send your payments by recorded delivery direct to the freeholder.

This way, you will have complied with the terms of the lease and protected your interests.

That Estates & Management are involved  suggests all is not as straight forward as it may apppear. They have form!
