Water & Electricity, Not a Good Combination!

For many years residents at The Granary suffered from water leaks, which according to Peverel/Firstport and their appointed contractors was caused by "condensation"

After being challenged by residents the cause was then put down to rainwater(an excuse somewhat undermined by the fact it had not rained for a considerable time)

Subsequently it was shown that the fault was due to the fitting of incorrect boiler overflow pipes. This should have been known as incorrect boiler overflow pipes had been replaced earlier in one of the flats. It had been assumed that they had all been replaced, but typical of Peverel/Firstport shoddy management they had not.

One day a resident walking through the foyer noticed that water was coming down in a torrent through the ceiling light. Very concerned he phoned Firstport who assured him a contractor would be their within 4 hours.

On his return that evening, he noted that the contractor had not attended and water was still cascading through the light. He contacted Firstport again. This time the Firstport representative told the resident to phone the Fire Brigade, which he duly did.

When they attended, he was assured that due to modern failsafes, there was no danger of electrocution, but that he had been right to call the Fire Brigade in.

Incidentally, whilst there, they noticed fire safety doors had been damaged and needed repair.

Later that evening he received a very abusive call from the contractor, blaming him for causing trouble by contacting the Fire Brigade.                                                  Shortly after this incident, the development property manager was placed under investigation and subsequently replaced.
