Firstport Admit Overcharging For Electricity.

Gary Cox a senior member of Firstport staff has finally agreed after coming under a great deal of pressure that it is the case that communal electricity charges attract a VAT rate of 5% and not as Firstport have been charging residents 20%.

In attempting to deflect blame (nothing Firstport ever does is wrong) Gary Cox claims it "is due to an error by EDF"

No Mr Cox, It is not down to EDF!

Firstport is a commercial organisation and therefore if Firstport are purchasing the electricity from EDF then it is correct for EDF to levy VAT at 20% unless Firstport simply sign a declaration that the electricity is for domestic use, in which case EDF would simply change the VAT rate to 5%.

It is difficult to believe that a property management company could make such an innocent "administrative error?"

In any event, leaseholders have substantially overpaid for their electricity supply.

The overpayments must be refunded. To put the scale of the overpayments into context if a development has an electricity bill for 10,000 pounds, residents have over paid by 1,500 pounds.

Given the number of developments that Firstport (mis) manage that adds up to a great deal of money that is owed by Firstport to residents.

About Peverel urges all residents to look at their electricity bills and demand immediate repayments for all VAT overcharges.(and don't forget to add interest)
