National Leasehold Campaign

Just when you thought no more scams could be thought up by greedy, grasping developers and freeholders, a new scandal designed to cost homeowners a fortune has reared its ugly head and is getting increasingly more common.

It was the case that many new build home owners were stung by the developers selling the freehold of the surrounding development land to "Ground Rent Graizers" who exist purely to exploit homeowners by making totally bogus charges to the home owners for "maintanence" that in reality is never carried out.

The new scam on the block is the practice of selling the houses that had been sold on a freehold basis on a long term lease, and purchasers being told that the length of the lease makes it "virtually freehold"and the purchaser "can buy the freehold for a couple of thousand pounds within two years"

In reality the developer sells the freeholds off to the usual parade of spivs, and because of the onorous terms of the lease, in some cases the ground rent doibling every ten years, when the homeowner wants to purchase the freehold the cost has gone up to 35,000 pounds.

Whilst the majority of those that visit the About Peverel site will not be in this position, those homeowners like the majority of all associated with About Peverel are victims of financial abuse.

About Peverel are only too pleased to endorse the National Leasehold Campaign which can be found on Facebook. Please give them your support.

They are doing a great job, we wish them well.
