Roofing contractorJohn Green Snr, has recently received a four year jail term, after being investigated by Surrey Trading Standards.
He masterminded a scam that targeted the elderly and vulnerable homeowners and left them substantially out of pocket.
Not a new scam of course, but he would cold call the elderly having "noticed" some small repairs needed doing to their roofs, which he could do for a "good price"
Naturally, the small repairs would soon escalate to an entire new roof.
The court heard that the works were often unnecessary, poorly performed and grossly overpriced.
What in essence is the difference between what Mr Green Snr was jailed for and what Firstport are doing when they invite and use"suspect" roof surveys (including evidential photographs using the same photo that was taken on a previous ocassion and being passed off as a current one)?
