Anxious Times For Firstport

Hard pressed directors are Firstport are getting very anxious about Friday, October 21st.

This is the date when they expect to receive the verdict from Guildford Court in respect of their guilty pleas to four charges relating to the Gibson Court fire, in which Irene Cockerton so tragically lost her life.

Only then will they discover how much in fines and what the cost of remedial action they will be forced to undertake?

It is likely to be substantial, as the auditors for Firstport accounts had to qualify their accounts.

Residents should be aware that if a thorough review of development fire safety curtains is ordered, this should be at Firstport's expense, since rersidents have already paid for this via their service charges, even if it either has not been done or been done in the slapdash manner as was the case at Gibson Court.

Flats are available for sale at Gibson Court. A local estatre agent refers to Gibson Court, "Having recently been completed further to an almost complete development rebuild'

No mention of course of the fire, nor any mention that the same managing agents are in place, whose utter disregard to safety procedures in the pursuit of income  contributed greatly to the death of Irene Cockerton.
