A warning To Firstport Managers

Firstport Managers will already know that their official working hours of 35 hours per week is a complete sick joke.  You are probably working at least 70 hours a week to try and keep up with your workload.

You are also being encouraged to work from home.

You are being asked to use your broadband connection so you can use your Firstport computers/tablets at home. That broadband connection is being paid for by you, out of your taxed income on behalf of Firstport.

So if you do agree to work from home, at the very least Firstport should be paying for your broadband.

You will also have to sacrifice some of your home space if you agree to work from home. You can't really work effectively if your children are running around you, so you would probably need a quiet room to work in.

Then of course, you need to ensure there is a secure place to store your computer/tablet and any work related files.

You also need to check with your insurance company that your household policy covers working from home and storing commercially sensitive information?

Again you need to check with your mortgage company as to whether the terms of your loan allow for working from home?

If you live in a leasehold property you must ensure that the terms of youir lease allow for home working? If not, you could find that you are in breach of lease and your leasehold interest may be at risk of forfeit?

Clearly working from home does have implications, not least for the quality of your home life. However tough a working day may be, there is the satisfaction of coming home, shutting your front door and forgetting the day's woes.

If you work from home, work never leaves you and you have lost that tranquility that everyone is entitled to.

If you are paid for 35 hours a week, your work load should be matched to a 35 hour week. You work many more hours, you are now expected to work from home.

And Why?

So the greedy snouts in the trough investors in a heavily indebted company can get their money back, at yours and residents expense.
