Firstport are recruiting what they term as "Graduate Property Managers"
This is in part to address the problems they are encountering in recruiting experienced property managers and in part to address the issues of chronic work overload on existing property managers, despite the reduction in developments managed by Firstport.
Recruiting experienced property managers is problematical as even with recent salary increases, few would leave an established successful property management company to join a failing company with such a wretched reputation as Peverel/Firstport has, unless they had been made redundant and needed a job.
Right across the whole Firstport Group, you will find those recruited from companies that had made wide scale redundancies. This led to the widespread appointments of former mobile phone salesmen.
Senior management have recognised that these appointments have proved counter-productive.
Unfortunately due to their reputation, Firstport cannot attract the calibre of staff that is needed.
Hence the idea of the "Graduate Property Manager"
So in principle an aspiring property manager can be "trained" in a working environment for one year at a salary of 20,000 pounds (which is far less than the median wage for a property manager)
At the end of a very hard year's work, the graduate may apply for a full time role.
In other words, in exchange for a little training, the graduate will have to work many hours ofter under great stress for a poor wage, with no employee protections for a year and they MAY apply for a full time job?
For any graduate seeking a role in property management, there are plenty of firms to chooose from, that are not purely seeking cheap temporary labour.
Many previous Peverel/Firstport staff have sought to have their employment record with Peverel/Firstport expunged from their CV.
Employment by Peverel/Firstport is normally a matter of job neccessity not job choice.
Starting out on a property management career with Peverel/Firstport on your CV will be a blight to your future prospects.
