Owens Sinks Ever Deeper Into The Maltings Quicksand

Nothing concentrates the mind of Chris Owens Group Head of Customer Services, than a direct legal threat to him over his lamentable conduct towards residents.

So after his typical lack of action he now is "super"keen to resolve outstanding issues concerning the transfer of The Maltings Serrvice Charge Trust Accounts to the new managing agent.

It is understood the amount in dispute was around £27,000 and included a dispute of £20,000 that was subject to a court judgement.

A meeting has now been agreed between Peverel/Firstport and the new managing agent which is set for June 30th.

The delay from the original demanded time table of 12 June was in order to give Peverel/Firstport enough time to "clarify" their position in a proper manner.

That said, even before the meeting takes place , funds that belong to the Maltings residents identified by the court judgements should be paid over by the 12th.

Of course this presents Peverel/Firstport in general and Chris Owens and Abdul Kalam (a Peverel/Firstport financial officer) with a major headache.

If for any reason Peverel/Firsport  come to the conclusion that they were wrong, and that leaseholder non- existent debts have been passed to the new managing agent (which were the responsibility of Peverel/Firstport) and have to credit the service charge account, they face the huge problem as to how they explain it came to be, that the service charge trust accounts had been signed off and were audited?

That such a possibilty could exist for a development that Peverel/Firstport knew was being closely monitored beggars belief.

About Peverel, does expect a financial settlement to be reached. But they should not expect a confidentiality clause, nor should they not expect further action to be taken against named individuals in future.
