A Miserable Time For Owens

Chris Owens is employed as the gatekeeper/enforcer for Peverel/Firstport.

His mode of operation is well known.  He replies to a question in a manner that is carefully constructed to avoid answering the question.

If that doesn't work, he will say "someone else has answered the question and the matter is now closed"

If that doesn't work he will try to ignore the resident.

If that doesn't work he will send a threatening letter, concerning the "Unacceptable behaviour" of a resident.

To be fair to Mr Owens those letters are crafted in a way to cause maximum concern to the recipient. He does know how far he can legally go and does go right to the limit. At first glance it may seem the letter has the authority of a legal letter, when in fact it has none. (residents should also note that any letter from "Legal Services" have no legal authority either)

Though continuing in his role, Mr Owens does have problems.

His carefully crafted strategy is not working like it used to.

If he avoids an answer, it doesn't go away. If he ignores a resident, the issue becomes public. If he sends a threatening letter, it is dismissed (as so many have received the same letter).

It has been noted that such a letter is normally sent when a resident has uncovered yet another Peverel/Firstport scam. It is ironic that on ocassions the resident did not realise they had uncovered a scam, it was the over- reaction of Peverel/Firstport that alerted the resident that they must have stumbled on something.

Chris Owens now knows, that his tactics no longer work. He now knows that his senior management will not even bother to defend him. According to a source (very close to Peverel/Firstport) his colleagues have lost all respect and confidence in him and openly talk about what he will do when he jumps ship.(They are saying Freemont is either the favourite or only option at present)
