Peverel and their appointed "heavy mob" JB. Leitch have been humiliated in court.
A leaseholder(the brilliant RB), who didn't like being cheated and had the fortitude to stand up to bullying, has faced down all that Peverel and JB Leitch could throw at him.
Point by point, trick by trick, he stood firm.
Disputes had raged for several years over the management of the development and unsubstantiated costs. Indeed many thousands of pounds were repaid to the leaseholder.
Such were the extent of the problems exposed by RB, that Peverel ran away from managing RB's development.
Of course Peverel and their appointed "legal thugs" (or highly commended law firm according to the News on The Block awards) had to get their revenge.
So they persued RB in court for an admitted outstanding sum of £86 But in persuing the outstanding £86 they claimed £12,000 in costs.
This is not a typo. To repeat for a sum of £86 they claimed twelve thousand pounds in costs.
In court the £86.00 owing was agreed by RB. Though terchnically a win for the claimant, costs of £325 +a further £250 (as a result of RB withdrawing a counter claim) were awarded. The judge said that though it was a technical win for the claimant, in reality the defendent(RB) had clearly won. He refused permission for the claimant to appeal.
