Service Charge Arrears Collections

In their quest to recover service charge payments, Peverel may send letters threatening court action. Read any such letters very carefully. Watch out for phrases such as "We may take court action, We could take Court action, you could face possible court action" Before any court action is taken, any pre-action letter must be specific.

Peverel have a reputation for transferring recovery to a debt collection company and even informing your mortgage provider of any arrears.

It is vital that should you receive any such threats, you contact Peverel stating that you are in dispute.  This should stop Peverel "transferring" ypur debt.

If you are in dispute Peverel should not be contacting your mortgage provider either.

A debt collection agency has no more powers than any member of public. Do not be intimidated by them. Make it clear that you dispute any debt, and that any further contact from them, without establishing the debt constitutes harassement.

Deny them permission to contact you in any way other than by letter.

(it is important for legal reasons in any communicatiion with a debt collector never sign any letter mark it Unsigned on legal advice)

Remember, despite any threats or "suggestions" they do not have the authority of court appointed collectors, so have no fears. they work on the basis of frightening people into paying.

If despite registering a dispute Peverel have passed collections to a debt collection agency or informed your mortgage provider, you should contact the Head Of Operations, Peverel Mr Jonathan Astle and demand compensation.
