Do Not Be LED Astray?

So, is it a good idea to change communal lighting to LED?

Broadly Yes, But naturally, not the Firstport way?

LED lights can lat longer (50,000 hours is a commonly quoted figure) and they do use less electricity.

The trouble with the electricity saving is that since developments do not receive proper information about their electricity bills, residents have no way of knowing what savings have actually been made?

Another issue is the manner in which savings are calculated?

For example it has been found that in persuading residents to change to LED lighting ( accidentally in error) the consumption and costs of old style bulbs are given as though operated on a 24 hour basis, whereas the LED figure is based on 12 hours.

So why are Firstport so keen on fitting LED lights?

Is it purely for the benefit of residents, or do Firstport see it as an added revenue stream?

Well under the heading " ADDED VALUE NEW BUSINESS" Firstport sent a confidential letter to Area Managers.

We have identified a contractor that will work exclusively with you to install LED lighting into communal areas.

Group procurement have gone through a rigorous tender excercise to insure we have the right partner to supply, fit and honour any warranty issues.

The process, paperwork and contact details will be sent to you shortly.

There will be no need to obtain additional quotes unless the costs are above the Section 20 trigger point.

in this case we do have alternative companies that provide a quote.

It is believed the company in question is Ideal Lighting, based in Sidcup, Kent.

If alternative quotes are needed  they should not be from Adot LED UK or F&N Lighting. They are sister companies of Ideal Lighting.

If residents really want LED lighting they should obtain a quote from a local company.
