Restoration Update!!
Here is the big news update we promised recently. We are delighted to tell you that work is due to commence on the church on 14 July 2025. This work will include addressing the issues with the porch by strengthening and underpinning the foundations, partially rebuilding, and inserting helibars to tie the structure to the main building; re-roofing the tower and repairing the pinnacles; and various structural repairs around the building. Work is expected to take around ten weeks.
Please note that the church will remain open for Sunday services but will not be open daily for visitors and private prayer for the duration of the works. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
We are hugely thankful to all who have supported us to make this possible and for small grants from Withernwick Wind Farm Community Fund, The Benefact Trust and Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust. We also received a small foundation grant from the National Churches Trust towards the cost of the initial measured surveys, though we were unsuccessful in our applications to their Large Grants programme for help with the repairs.
The above work marks the first phase of our planned restoration and re-ordering works; our fundraising will continue towards the next phase(s) which aim to install a toilet and servery area, with improvements to the heating and lighting, and replacement of the nave roof. Your ongoing support in this will be very much appreciated. THANK YOU ALL!!

Our ministry is now under the oversight of a Ministry Team led by the Area Dean, the Rev’d Alisdair Laird. A reorganisation of ministry in the South Holderness Deanery sees St Swithins incorporated into an enlarged group of 20 churches, the Village Parishes Group, under the care of a new team, yet to be fully completed, whilst the two towns in the deanery, Hedon and Withernsea, each have their own dedicated priest. All churches in the deanery continue to work together to support and uplift each other in the love of Christ.

on the second and fourth Mondays of each month
from 10.00am to 11.30am in the Village Hall.

All welcome

Please pray for Ukraine ...
God of peace and justice, we pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow,
that your spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war and peace, for wisdom, discernment and compassion
to guide their decisions.
Above all we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear, that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
Amen

A huge thank you from the PCC to all who helped laying and spreading gravel on the public footpath through the churchyard, in front of the church and the path from the lychgate. This was a sterling effort by some really great volunteers. Seven and a half tons of gravel laid in an hour! That was real community spirit! Thank you to all who took part and to the parish council for organising, especially Mitch and John.
