About

This website was authored in December 2006 by Dave Walsh.

Dave had been experimenting with webcams to show the level of his local river the Allan which flows through Dunblane. There is an excellent resource showing Scottish river levels where the levels are represented by coloured dots and it links into the Sepa levels. However Dave felt that a webcam view showing present levels would give canoeists a better indication of conditions on his local river.

Unfortunately because of time and technical constraints, the CAM does not update as frequently as hoped for. However major changes in level will be accomodated

Dave has been kayaking since the 1970's and has managed to bag a number of first descents mainly in Scotland.

He has both kayaked and open canoed the Allan many times in all conditions. Dave paddled the river in the floods of 1993 with Dougie Arnott -when the levels were at least as high (if not higher) than those seen in December 2006 when the river rose to 3.7 on the Sepa gauge.

I would like to see this website being interactive so feel free to leave comments and write ups about your trips on the Allan and other local rivers or about any changes and hazards.

FOOTNOTE

Although I have managed to get some decent paddling in this year, I have also been busy in my spare time on the committee for the Skatepark which is being built in Dunblane and due to be completed in January 2007.
