PC Adam Wood, Community Policeman for Stretton has supplied an update for the village.

Our new East Staffordshire Borough Council Neighbourhood co-ordinator Rebecca Lees has started work from the Heart of Burton office. ‘Rebecca has responsibility for semi-rural areas around Burton including Stretton. She is very keen and is our link for all community issues and departments at the East Staffs Borough Council. Rebecca has already met some community contacts in Stretton, been on the mobile library van and arranged for some graffiti to be removed. We welcome her as a valuable member of the team.’

For the start of the summer holidays last week, there were several activities planned by Staffordshire Youth Service workers Janet and Sara and Strettons’ PCSO Jenny Black and Katie Fellows. These four work together in Stretton for our young people.

On the Thursday evening there were group activities on BithamPark where rounders and football were played. On Saturday and Sunday the youth services took their mobile play home along with a group of young persons from Stretton to the motocross circuit at Tattenhill. There were many other youngsters to mix with as this was an international event. There was also a laser quest which they took part in.

Pc Wood said,’These were excellent activities arranged by our partners for our young persons from Stretton which were greatly appreciated. They really enjoyed themselves and the youngsters wish to plan their own events in the future.’
