Steve Jameson appointed new Club Captain
20 August 2006
Steve Jameson appointed new Club Captain After 10 years at the helm, Andy Evans handed over the reigns of Club Captain to Steve Jameson last week. Alex Keenlyside is the new Club Secretary, and Matt Jackson will continue as Fixtures Secretary. The new skipper had plenty to say about it all! "Earlier this week, Andy, Matt, Keen and I met up to discuss the forthcoming season. We had a general discussion about last season, the squad and how the club might improve. After a decade of captaining the side with a dedication that we all appreciate, Andy has earned himself a rest. He will no longer be captain, but will provide invaluable support and experience as well as continuing to oversee some of the more mundane aspects of the club. Matt is going to continue as Fixtures Secretary, Keen is going to be Club Secretary and I am going to captain the side. I think we are all aware that we don't want a repeat of the back end of last season. Every member of the club should appreciate that we are in this together and commitment needs to be shown throughout the season. There obviously will be the odd occasion when some people will not be able to play but throughout the season the majority of the squad needs to be available. We need to strengthen the squad. Keen has been in touch with some of the recent school leavers to recruit some young blood. Whilst some of them will only be around during university holidays, some have settled in London now and will, we hope, be around for the whole season. I'd like to welcome them all to the club and encourage them to get involved as much as possible and we'll all enjoy the benefits."
