Wed 01 Jan 1919   [Needwood]
Robin left Needwood early for London.
Quiet day with Mother and she is wonderfully well in spite of this terrific shock.  But wisely
she sees that - for him - it is far better so.

Lovely expedition & we are more and more delighted with it all.
Go all over it choosing fittings that we shall buy from Mrs Trimmer.  Robin saw the builder
too who is going to repair drains & do up the roof etc.  Home for tea.

Thu 09 Jan 1919
Loathsome notices have been in the paper babbling vulgarly about Dad being my father.
They pretended to have "interviewed" me & it has made us furious.
Reporters are the limit

Robin to London.
Run him to Redhill in the big car & there exchange into Jimmie.  Fetch Marjory from Horley
to stay.
One van comes and picks up furniture

She died in Cheshunt, where Auriol's mother's younger brother, Rev. Herbert Whitbread Hill had lived
from birth.  Married with two unmarried daughters older that Olave, his younger sister Constance Auriol,
childless and widowed, died in Kensington aged 64 just 12 days after Auriol.3
Two pages also not transcribed -  torn out ? - from Olave's husband's diary, but he wrote -
05-Apr-1919 Phone from Eva asking Olave to go to Hale as Auriol was dead.
06-Apr-1919 Phone from Col. W saying Bob Davidson was staying with him, quite broken down, Auriol
having escaped in the night and thrown herself under a train. Olave returned. Found Selwyn Austin trying
to get a taxi, I ran him home. Called on Messenges and Duncans.
