Its Dark
Its dark, I can't see outside my window
It’s dark outside, very dark
The sounds of the night are unfamiliar
Tall gum trees rustle and share glimpses of pinprick stars in the moonless sky
It’s cold outside, very cold,
But back inside it’s warm and safe and cosy.
Now its morning and its brilliant
The cockatoos swoop overhead calling on their way
A galah quietly pecks through seed husks to find some breakfast,
But the King Parrot loudly peeps demanding seeds
Camellia blossoms litter the lawn
Rhododendron flowers blaze
Its warm, its morning and its brilliant outside my window!
Liz Millman is not a poet, but recognises the impact and importance of poetry to express our feelings, concerns and joys, as well as to tell our stories. Learning Links International was established by Liz and colleagues to involve others in is researching and telling the stories of our shared histories. Liz is delighted that the Ogwen Valley Writers Network has developed to encourage and share writing and to develop links with writers in Pennants, Jamaica.
