the competitions

We are no longer a member of the National Federation of Fish Friers.

Most people do not realise that in order to get an award within the Fish and Chip industry, it is necessary to enter the competition associated with the award.  For instance....the Federation of Fish Friers have a scheme  to find the Best Fish and Chip Shops in the Country.  There is a fee to register into the scheme, currently £420. They will then send an assessor to inspect the premises (similar to the Food Hygene inspection carried out by the local health inspectors) and award a certificate to be displayed on the premises.

SO

The scheme only inspects those shops which sign up and pay their fee.

There are hundreds of Fish and Chip shop owners who do not sign up.......it does not mean they are any better or worse than those who do.

IT FOLLOWS

that statistically there has to be another Fish and Chip shop which is equal or even better than the ones being awarded "Best Chip Shop"

Sorry for the rant, but so many people ask us why we haven't won any Prizes or Awards, when in their opinion we are better than ones who do win them.
