Burns Night Fundraiser
22 January 2011

The Burns Night at Judith's house was a fun packed night with an abundance of good food, drink and craic. Over £200 was raised for our charities. Hugh's address to the haggis was an Oscar winning performance...

Come close my friends I have a sorry tale to tell of how this beastie strove to make our lives hell.  Twas a glorious, calm, sunny day when the Inverness Spinners rode far, far away.

Over the hill and dale we flew, all desperate to catch up with Drew, but when we did twas a sight to forget as he sat eating his pizza in a puddle of sweat!

On and one we went towards our last climb, we were going well, even ahead of time, but this last hill we could not shirk, we soon hit the slopes of culnakirk!

In one short minute we realised our fears, when to a rider we ran out of gears, up and up we climbed we could not fail, even Drew perked up as he overtook a snail!

But as we climbed we could not see, the furtive antics of our enemy, creeping stealthily from bush to bush preparing for it deadly ambush.

It sprang amongst us its shriek most savage, as we all fell down it was total carnage, the screams amongst us grew and grew, the loudest of us all was Drew!

But just as the beast thought us cornered, we closed ranks and charged forward.  We kicked its ass and gave no corner until the tide turned and it was cornered.

With its back to the hill it was battered and blearing, our team recovering from its violent beating, our cries of victory soon curtailed when the sight of our leaders body prevailed.

We saw no breath, motion or quiver, the death of our leader made us shiver, then from our ranks burst Dr Donna our leaders life to save, all hail Dr Donna.

The examination to long for our tale, but thanks to Donna life would prevail, the remedy a swift kick in Judith’s tail, cried Donna, it’s only a broken finger nail!

All was quiet until Judith shivered, to a man our bodies quivered, the rage within her grew and grew and from her wheel a spoke she drew, she fell upon the beast and screamed “die ya bham” and thats where her fur coat came from!
