Jubilee Ponds Official Opening

The weather was kind for the Opening Day to rename the Wave Pond Project to The Jubilee Ponds. The name was a suggestion from Bill Shearer to recognise Livingston's 50th Anniversary and the Diamond Jubilee of the Queen.

Local politicians, primary and secondary schools, those who had worked on the project and members of the public joined the DEEP committee for the celebration.

One pupil from each of the six primary schools in the area were present to cut the ribbon. Each school was then presented with a trophy, donated by David Cleghorn, chair of DEEP, to recognise their contribution to the work of DEEP and their community.
