Club Moorings

These moorings, exclusively for the use of Members, are laid off the Clubhouse in an area licensed from Crown Estate for the purpose since 1 January 2006. There are 20 yellow polyethylene buoys and each is secured to 22mm chain with a minimum-breaking load of 21.6 tonne attached to a 3000kg concrete block submerged in the seabed. To minimise wear and tear, the buoys are taken ashore each winter and the chains lowered to the seabed attached to marker buoys.

Guidelines for annual Mooring Allocation

The Club moorings are an excellent and sought after facility and every effort is made to allocate them fairly and appropriately to those Members who apply for them, prior to the start of each season.
The decisions are made by the Committee, and are final.
Moorings will be allocated first and foremost to those Members who have been (or currently are) active in, and contribute to, the Club. It is anticipated that this criterion will apply to the majority of applicants.
Consideration will be given to previous non-usage of an allocated mooring by a Member.
Any Members no longer requiring an allocated mooring must inform the Committee. A Member cannot sub-allocate a mooring.
If the application for moorings is oversubscribed, those applicants, who do not actively contribute to the Club will be involved in a ballot.
Not everyone who applies will automatically be successful in obtaining a mooring.
The aim is to ensure that moorings are used throughout the Season and not lying empty.

The Committee adopted the above protocol in April 2010.
