Championship Show 2007
20 October 2007
The Championship Show  was, as usual, a resounding success.    There was a happy and relaxed tone to the show as exhibitors enjoyed meeting with some old friends and some new ones.   It was lovely to welcome to the Show a few first time exhibitors, quite a number of visitors and friends from other breeds, and we hope that they enjoyed their day as much as we did.   Lunch was an exceptional cold buffet, a fact commented on by many, and my thanks go to all who provided the marvellous food (especially the puddings!!).   It was lovely to see Dennis and Margaret Ledward, armed with the inevitable Fred Basset calendars, which appeared to sell like hotcakes.    Also thanks to Sandra Thexton for providing us with many unique Basset Christmas Cards to sell.   The raffle seemed to be dominated by different coloured "bottles" which disappeared in quick succession!  Thanks go to all of the exhibitors for their unstinting support of the Club once again and to the weatherman for giving us such a fine day.
Judge, Mr Roy Metcalfe (Metadale) was delighted to find a really high quality of hounds in front of him.  It was a pleasure to have Roy judge our Show and thank him for officiating for us.  His main winners were as follows:
BIS and Bitch CC  Dave and Clare Darley's Ch. May Day Dos Sete Moinhos with Clavidar.
RBIS BOpS and Dog CC Liz Cudlip's Ch. Harvidene Omar Sheree.
Res. Bitch CC Phil Freer's Switherland Hot Sensation.
Res Dog CC Debbie Newman's Woferlow Samuel Pickwick JW
Best Puppy in Show  was the dog, Phil Freer's Switherland Kingpin.
Best Bitch Puppy was Nigel Luxmoore-Ball's Woferlow Cherry Ice for Tanneron NAF TAF.
Best Veteran in Show Judith Murray's and Roger Fitzpatrick-Odahamier's Ir.Ch. Dereheath Sue-Ellen.

Best Hound Resident in Scotland was the young dog, Burnvale Via Corelli owned by Sandra and Tom Johnston.
Best Bitch Resident in Scotland was Burnvale Nightshade owned by Marion Wilson.

Finally,  special thanks go to our Steward, Connie Rankin, the Members of the Committee, friends and helpers who made the Show go so smoothly on the day.
