Championship Show 2006 & Dinner
21 October 2006

A total of 114 dogs were entered for this special 40th Anniversary show where the Judge was our President, Mrs Pat Moncur who had travelled up from Suffolk to officiate. Pat was one of the founder members of this Club in 1966 and she served as Secretary in its early years. She has not only had success with her Basset Hounds but has made up a Champion Bloodhound and a Champion Beagle. She also has a love of German Shepherd Dogs and is currently showing a Russian Black Terrier. During the lunch break the Judge, accompanied by our Chairman, cut a special celebration cake baked and donated by one of our Club members. Pat found her Best in Show in Ch. Bromwylva Imperial Mint of Dereheath belonging to Heather and Derek Storton. The Reserve Best in Show went to Ch. May Day Dos Sete Moinhos With Clavidar owned by Clare & Dave Darley. Best Puppy was Paul Isted & Di Melbourne's Dearduenna Lucienne Delyle and Best Veteran was Jim Wilson's Limgoning Ferguson. As well as special rosettes a number of basset owners had donated special prizes to be given to all 1st, 2nd and 3rd class placings as well as all major wins. Bags of dog food had also been donated by Royal Canin for all winners. The Committee had also decided that to thank the exhibitors for their past support all food at our show was supplied free.In the evening a large number of exhibitors joined us for the Celebratory Dinner in the Philipburn Country House Hotel in Selkirk which was a perfect finish to a very special day in the history of the Club.

The Club's AGM was held on Sunday 25th March 2007 after which the Open Show, judged My Mr Frank Kane, took place.  The top winners were

Best Dog and Best In Show, Gillespie's Champion Bassbarr Carlos Primeros.

Best Bitch and Reserve Best in Show, Johnston's Burnvale Going Around.

Best Puppy, Johnstone's Rantalne Maid of Dreams.

The show took place on a beautiful spring morning with food available for the duration of the show.   The raffle was well supported and thanks go to everyone who contributed.  At this show no trophies were awarded as the Committee wishes to do a stocktake and take the opportunity to examine the condition of the trophies as there appear to be a few which require repair.
