Music Matters is a pilot project which aims to provide children and staff with high quality, varied, fun filled music making experiences which stimulate creativity, skill development, music intelligence and a love of music, using other art forms as an initial stimulus .

Our project will be structured around three nurseries in Inverness: Merkinch Primary School Nursery, Hilton Primary School Nursery and Inverness Gaelic Primary School Nursery. Each of the nurseries will receive thirty two weeks of musical education workshops led by a Musical Specialist, drawing on the best of the Kodaly, Orff and Dalcroze approaches. The workshops will be split into four blocks of eight weeks, designed to compliment the topics covered by the nursery. In the first week of each block, an artist from a different media will visit, with an activity which will be the stimulus for the musical experiences for the following weeks. This will include bubble making, visual arts, live music, and music technology.

The project will start in August 2013.

Fiona Mackenzie, Emily MacQuarrie and Monica Neeling are the three Music Specialists who will deliver the music workshops.
