We are An Comunn Gàidhealach Meur Loch Iu, the Loch Ewe Branch of An Comunn Gàidhealach.

The Association, which is a registered charity (Her Majesty the Queen is patron of An Comunn Gàidhealach, and the Charity No. is SCO01282), is usually referred to as "An Comunn", which means "The Association", and for many throughout the world An Comunn is the body which represents the Gaelic language. The membership of the organisation, which was founded in Oban in 1891, is voluntary.

An Comunn was set up as a vehicle for the preservation and development of the Gaelic language and culture. It actively encourages the teaching, learning and use of the Gaelic language and the study and cultivation of Gaelic literature, history, music and art and the local branches do their utmost to promote the language and culture.

This local branch runs many superb events with great Cèilidhs and Celebrations of the Music and Culture. Look at the Calendar for details of our events.
